100 Days of Gratitude – Day 72

September 6, 2009

MDMI’m so grateful for the opportunity to share the day, the weekend, and the business journey with some very inspiring people.  It’s been said that we are same person 5 years from now except for the books you read and the people you spend time with.  This is an exciting thought, as I read great books, by great people, and spend time with big thinkers; generous people who are passionate and making a difference in the world.

Grateful and blessed,

Love Kerrie

100 Days Of Gratitude – Day 71

September 5, 2009

Kerrie And Rebel

I’m grateful for a day of challenging questions to really have me thinking deeply and strategically about my life and business.  The insights were amazing – and will be easier to articulate when it’s not 11.55pm! Bottom line – my thinking today was all about living on purpose, which I go on about from time to time…  it’s great to spend time reflecting on where this is and isn’t a reality.

I’m also grateful that we completed the day with dinner out with all the inspiring people we’d been with all day, thanks to Joanna Martin.  So while I don’t have a photo of the strategic and heartfelt thinking – here’s a pic from lunch, which was just as fun, but more rushed than our fabulous dinner.

Thanks Joey!

Cheering you on,
Love Kerrie

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 56

August 21, 2009

Mary Brell & Kerri PottharstI’m so grateful for this amazing woman, Mary Brell, pictured here with Gold Medalist Kerri Pottharst (a few months ago).

We spent today together at Stephens Patisserie editing our book, Lifting the Lid on Quiet Achievers – Success Stories of Regional Entrepreneurs, and I really appreciate her support and friendship – which actually began in the same cafe a few years ago!

We were so focused on the book that I forgot to get a photo of us today, although I don’t think Mary will mind – this one is great too!

Mary’s contribution to the book is invaluable, and her belief in my potential since we met has been too!  Mary is off to Austria next week to speak at a conference and share her expertise in learning styles and bringing the best out in people.

What more can I say?!  You’ll have to wait for the book!
Love Kerrie

Some thoughts on Conversations..

October 28, 2008

What do your conversations sound like?  If someone was eavesdropping, would they walk away with a sense of brushing past heaven? How wonderful would that be?  I hope people could walk past me and get a touch of heaven.

Picture yourself at a BBQ, what is the tone of the conversation?  It’s so easy to get into a conversation about problems, challenges, dramas – whatever you call it.  and these things are part of life.  But so are solutions!  Unfortunately, they often get left out of the conversation.  Someone needs to bring them in, make Solutions a welcome friend.

(Are you a tiny bit inspired?  I’m getting excited just typing this as it comes to mind.  I love thinking happy thoughts!  Don’t you?)

So how do we do this, be a little bit of heaven on earth?  It definitely takes focus, because we so easily slip into the auto pilot of noticing the problem. Our brains are wired like that, and it’s a good thing, because we can be aware of danger and avoid it, notice things going wrong and address it – finding solutions.  But we must decide to!  A great friend is one who invites us to adjust our focus, and allows us to invite them to do the same.

Must fly, I’m going to meet someone now and give them a great invitation!

Possibilities are endless and other random thoughts

May 9, 2008

Possibilities are endless! An exciting thought – certainly keeps me on my toes and this week has been full-on keeping up! It’s good to remember that with all the opportunities and the busyness it brings we can still create opportunities for essentials like taking time out! So I’ve been prioritising my time out and exercising this week, when it could have been pushed to the side (easily!) and I really enjoyed my swimming this morning. (Of course I still have some emails to catch up on!)

I’m off to Orange tomorrow with clients and friends to speak at Women, Wine & Wisdom – the third of the “Women, Wine & Wellbeing” series I’ve spoken at, with my dear friend Mary Brell – a very inspiring woman who created this series of events for regional women. More on that later – I’m still pulling it all together! Just thought I’d share some ponderings I wrote earlier in the week… hope it’s useful! Love Kerrie

Have you ever been really clear on the outcome you wanted – but been delivered a completely different and sometimes unappealing outcome – to find that it was actually better than you really wanted? I have often. This is why I’ve learned and continue to learn to be detached from the outcome. Let’s just go in open minded, core values guiding (such as generosity, authenticity, empowerment) and see what happens. I’ve been thrown some ugly looking outcomes that soon after I’d been so thankful for. If the door hadn’t been slammed in my face I wouldn’t have seen the gorgeous French doors to my left.

I find it useful to step back and look at the bigger picture. Is this outcome so, so important? Can you take this path with your core values intact, being true to yourself? What other possibilities are out there? I’ve discovered that possibilities are everywhere. Like the air we breathe but we don’t see evidence of it until we start looking.

Have a wonderful weekend, think big, and remember to make your mum feel oh-so-special!

A beautiful weekend and a lotta love

May 5, 2008

Sandra Groom was my one of my first Mentor Coaches and has become a dear friend. Her first visit here was the day after we started moving in, and the whole house was full of boxes. It’s not everyone you feel comfortable with when you’re surrounded with stuff to the point of having to eat outdoors because there’s nowhere to sit indoors.

Sandra is ever loving and accepting, so it was with no hesitation that I welcomed her along with her thoughtful, generous friend Rob Kalka, CEO of World Youth International to stay with us on the weekend. The house is more in order now of course, although showing signs of recent travel and busyness. We had a wonderful time, and Sandra came bearing gifts, as she does, including a beautiful hardcover book “The Complete Pocket Positives”. It contains such gems as Friendship consists in forgetting what one gives, and remembering what one receives” Alexandre Dumas, 1803 – 1870. French Novelist.

Another, which speaks to me of the many wonderful friends in my world (who may be reading this) is “Each new friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born” - Anais Nin 1903 – 1977 French Novelist

Thank you to all my dear friends who have brought out the best in me, fanned the flames of possibility, stretched and challenged me to become who I am today. I love you dearly and I thank you.
